Digital Preservation Policy
To ensure the availability and prevent the loss or corruption of information in our publications, the content of the International Politics Journal of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru Javier Pérez de Cuellar is stored using three methods for securing its digital preservation.
Local Preservation: Publications are stored on external hard drives in the following digital formats: Microsoft Word (editable base format), Adobe InDesign® (design and layout), and Adobe PDF (secure distribution and exchange of electronic documents).
Update and Backup Frequency: Every six months.
Institutional Preservation: The content of the International Politics Journal is also hosted on a dedicated external server (Hosting) located in the USA, ensuring its availability and integrity against risks to local preservation. It is protected by a perimeter firewall for web applications to mitigate OWASP attacks and comprehensive protection through DDoS Protection against application, network, and protocol-based attacks. The hosting service has a trusted SSL certificate to ensure Internet security.
Update and Backup Frequency: Bi-weekly.
Preservation through OJS: The International Politics Journal also undergoes preservation processes through the backup servers of the Open Journal System (OJS) platform using the PKP Preservation Network (PN) tool via LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe).
