Call for Papers for the International Political Review - Issue 137 (2025-I)
"The Geopolitics of Culture and Cultural Diplomacy in the Digital Age: Strategies of Influence."
The Diplomatic Academy of Peru "Javier Pérez de Cuéllar" (ADP) cordially invites active and retired diplomatic officials, national and foreign academics and specialists, as well as postgraduate students to submit articles for consideration for publication in the 137th Edition of the Política Internacional Academic journal 2025-I.
The theme of this issue will be "The Geopolitics of Culture and Cultural Diplomacy in the Digital Age: Strategies of Influence." This edition aims to analyze the role of culture as a strategic resource in foreign policy and its impact on shaping power, both regionally and globally, in the 21st century.
In particular, the issue will examine the role of countries such as Peru in projecting their cultural identity as a key factor in their international relations. It will explore how states use culture as an instrument of soft power, promoting narratives that reinforce their geopolitical influence and the formation of strategic alliances.
Additionally, the impact of the digital era on cultural diplomacy will be examined, addressing the role of social media and digital platforms in the States’s projection and non-state actors. Special attention will be given to digital strategies used in Latin America to strengthen their global presence through the dissemination of their cultural heritage and identity values. Authors will have the opportunity to analyze how these tools have transformed the way countries build their image on the international stage, allowing for the global diffusion of cultural values and identities.
In this context, contributors are invited to reflect on the role of influencers, cultural ambassadors, and content creators in digital public diplomacy, as well as the competition of narratives in cyberspace and its impact on international politics. Furthermore, authors are encouraged to explore specific cases from Latin America and Peru, considering how these actors have contributed to the promotion of their culture and, through it, to the consolidation of their influence in the region.
Articles must be original, unpublished, and exclusive. Articles will be received in Spanish and English.
