Open Science Policy
Open Science Policy
At Política Internacional journal, we are committed to promoting transparency, accessibility, and reproducibility in academic research. Our Open Science policy aligns with international principles of free knowledge dissemination, encouraging exchange and collaboration among researchers worldwide.
A key component of our Open Science policy is the support for the use of preprints as an essential tool for the early and open dissemination of research.
What Are Preprints and Why Do We Promote Them?
Preprints are preliminary versions of research papers shared publicly before undergoing formal peer review and subsequent publication in an academic journal. By promoting the use of preprints, we aim to:
-
Accelerate knowledge dissemination: Preprints allow research findings to be available to the scientific community and the public immediately, which can be crucial in dynamic fields like international relations.
-
Foster transparency: Early publication in preprint repositories promotes transparency by making results accessible from the initial stages of the research process, enabling open review and discussion.
-
Improve research quality: By sharing preprints, authors can receive feedback from peers and the global community, contributing to the improvement of the manuscript before formal review.
Recommended Preprint Repositories
We recommend authors deposit versions of their manuscripts in recognized preprint servers or open-access repositories that meet international standards for the preservation and dissemination of academic content, such as SciELO Preprints (https://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/about) or others of their choice.
What Should I Do If I Have a Preprint Published on a Server?
If you have a preprint, you should include the DOI number and the URL where the manuscript is hosted in the "Comments for the Editor" section when submitting your article. If the article is published in Política Internacional, the existence of the preprint and its permanent identifier (DOI) will be acknowledged.
