The Covid-19 pandemic has transformed our lives, significantly altering the way we work, study, and interact with people in all kinds of everyday activities. In most of the world, governments implemented massive quarantines in order to mitigate the spread of the virus, causing devastating impact on the global economy. Much of the impact has been a result of the very nature of the globalized world in which we live, which has not only contributed to the rapid spread of the virus, but also to the worsening of the economic crisis, due to the degree of interdependence that exists between economies. The pandemic has left sobering experiences about the long-term sustainability of globalization and the effectiveness of multilateral diplomacy in times of crisis. In this sense, it should also be seen as an opportunity to carry out a renewed model of more sustainable and more resilient development, through the creation of regional development hubs.
