APEC's Response to Global Challenges: Multilateral Cooperation in Times of Uncertainty

The international system is undergoing a significant transformation driven by economic and political factors, regional conflicts, and technological advances, which have shifted the balance of power and posed new challenges. The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2024 identifies four key challenges: climate change, demographics, technology, and geopolitical tensions, which influence economic and social development and will shape the global landscape in the coming years.
This article examines the role of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in formulating collective strategies to address these challenges, highlighting its contribution to economic stability and global governance through the adoption of international instruments and commitments, the implementation of concrete actions, and the strengthening of both regional and global cooperation, in a context marked by uncertainty.
