Abstract

This article commemorates the 150th anniversary of bilateral relations between the Dominican Republic and Peru, highlighting the evolution of the ties that bind both nations throughout history. From the foundation of the first cities by European colonizers, through the influence of the Dominican Order, to key events such as Dominican independence and Peru’s solidarity during the annexation to Spain in 1861, a relationship marked by collaboration, mutual respect, and cultural, political, and economic exchange is emphasized. The figure of Peruvian priest Gaspar Hernández, influential in Dominican independence, exemplifies the historical and cultural links between the two countries.

Current technical and scientific cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Peru, as well as a future commercial agenda aimed at promoting tourism, trade, and investments, demonstrate the potential for closer collaboration. In areas such as agroindustry, tourism, textiles and clothing, technology, and innovation, both countries have the opportunity to strengthen their economies and access new markets. Furthermore, the signing of agreements and conventions, both at the governmental and interinstitutional levels, reflects the shared commitment to fostering cooperation and mutual development. Long live the friendship between the Dominican Republic and Peru!
