Abstract

This article examines the dynamics between Latin America and China. It focuses on their geopolitical, economic, and cultural implications. It highlights China's emergence as a global power challenging traditional Western primacy, as illustrated by Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech on the 'shared destiny of the human community'. China's strategy of adapting Western practices to advance its economic and geopolitical agenda is particularly relevant in Latin America, a resource-rich region with growing international influence. It also examines China's 'soft power' strategy in the region, which seeks to influence specific perceptions and objectives beyond military or economic coercion. This includes the Belt and Road Initiative as well as Chinese influence on Latin American trade policy.
